Product Details

A matte black mug that hides its pattern until the heat brings it through. Fill it with something hot and a malu design appears across the black, the fine tatau markings Samoan women have carried with pride for generations, then fades as it cools.

It's a mug. It's also a quiet way to carry those markings into an ordinary Tuesday morning.

Why It Matters

Heat Reactive Magic

Ceramic with a heat reactive coating. Pour in anything hot and the print appears, then fades as the cup cools. Hand wash.

The Malu Revealed

The malu only shows when the cup is warm. Like the markings themselves, it means the most to those who know what they carry.

Reveals Then Hides

Samoan designed and printed to order. Once someone watches the malu appear over a hot cup, they want one of their own.

STYLE IT YOUR WAY

Use It Your Way

Your first coffee before the house wakes up. The cup you hand a visitor just to watch their face. The desk mug that starts conversations at work.

The story behind the design

Malu

The malu is the sacred tattoo of Samoan women, a mark of identity, resilience, and feminine strength passed down through generations. Every line in this design draws from that tradition, turning everyday wear into something that carries real cultural weight.
